WHO WAS INVOLVED -----WHAT INSPIRED IT?
The people that were involved in this case were Joseph Lee Jones and Alfred H. Mayer.
Joseph and his wife wanted to buy their dream house, made by the Mayer company, after seeing one of their display homes. Unfortunately Mayer did not want to sell to the couple after they had made an offer. Joseph Jones (The Petitioner/Plaintiff) filed a complaint against Alfred H. Mayer (The Respondent/Defendant) because he refused to sell them land based on the fact that Jones was black.

why was it important?
This was a very important case to the Civil Rights Movement because it helped show AND put an end to most of the racial discrimination towards African Americans during that time when they wanted to buy or rent land.
